Shaving Between Sessions?

It’s the time of year when we start preparing for the summer, wearing shorts, and skirts, and showing more skin after a long cold winter. This is when we start getting more of our clients enquiring about Laser Hair Removal. Especially when it comes to Shaving Between Sessions.

Shaving Between Treatments

The most common question we get asked by our clients is: Can I shave between Laser Hair Removal sessions?

Yes, you can shave between sessions. Some hair growth is expected between treatments (usually a four to six-week gap between treatments). It’s perfectly okay to shave any region of the body between laser hair removal sessions.

We strongly recommend that all clients shave before each session. The laser targets the melanin within the hair follicles which ultimately leads to the destruction of the hair follicle preventing any future hair growth. Shaving before a session helps to bring the melanin closer to the skin surface and enables the laser to be targeted closer to the root of the follicle leading to more effective results.

So, shaving between and before laser hair removal sessions leads to positive, more effective, sessions and will not negatively affect your treatment.

Recommendations

So, we have determined that it is safe and generally recommended, to shave before, after, and between laser hair removal sessions. There are some handy tips and recommendations to help you achieve the best results.

Firstly, we recommend that you use a man’s razor because the design of the man’s razor provides a closer shave, i.e. brings the hair out deeper from the follicle for a closer shave.

Men’s RazorSecondly, we recommend that when shaving, you use quality shaving foam for sensitive skin.

Thirdly, we recommend that you shave the target area a few hours before attending each treatment.
